Falling Whistles Fall Campaign 2011 : San Francisco @ The Summit SF


After a year of hitchhiking and biking across the country to build
a coalition for peace in Congo, and listening to every expert we could find, we realized that one of the most strategic needs in Congo was a special envoy. This goal, we partnered with seven other organizations in a single, united petition.

Eight months later we join 77 Congolese leaders, 35 Congressmen,
16 Senators, and 24,000 of you in asking President Obama to appoint an envoy in order to end the violence in Congo. It’s not a small thing we’re after. Instead it is a dream that many call impossible. But, like American author James Baldwin once said:

“Not everything that is faced can be changed— but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” 300 years ago, England’s abolitionists gathered signatures to show their leaders that British citizens wanted an end to slavery. This was the birth of the petition. 

On October 8th, Falling Whistles is reinventing the petition.
The Face Campaign invites the people of San Francisco to put their face behind history. Beyond the impersonal signature, this petition asks for your face. Your personality. Your desire for peace in Congo. 
This fall we’ll travel to cities nation-wide with one simple request:
join us, TOWARD PEACE IN CONGO.
