We are looking for an experienced Visual FoxPro Engineer to help maintain, support, and enhance an established, business-critical enterprise software application for one of our clients.
The ideal candidate has strong, hands-on experience with Visual FoxPro and is comfortable navigating complex, mature codebases, understanding existing business logic, troubleshooting issues, and delivering reliable improvements.

Responsibilities
Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance an existing Visual FoxPro application.
Investigate and resolve defects, performance issues, and production problems.
Develop and modify application features, forms, reports, and business logic.
Work with FoxPro databases, tables, indexes, queries, and data structures while maintaining data integrity.
Understand existing code and business rules, including areas with limited documentation.
Collaborate with engineering and product teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
Document relevant technical details and share knowledge with other developers.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and ongoing application improvements.
Requirements
Substantial hands-on professional experience developing and maintaining applications using Visual FoxPro (VFP 6.0–9.0). Proven production experience matters more than a specific number of years.
Strong understanding of the FoxPro/xBase programming language, object-oriented programming, forms, reports, and application architecture.
Experience working with DBF databases, indexes, cursors, SQL queries, and data management in FoxPro.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, debug, and maintain complex legacy applications.
Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and writing reliable, maintainable code.
Comfortable independently investigating unfamiliar code and resolving technical issues.
Ability to collaborate with distributed development teams and communicate effectively in English.
You’ll earn points if:
• Experience developing or supporting accounting, payroll, ERP, or financial management applications.
Experience integrating Visual FoxPro with SQL Server or other relational databases.
Familiarity with modern development technologies such as .NET/C#, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
Experience with legacy application modernization, migration, or system integrations.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools to understand, document, debug, or improve existing applications.
Familiarity with Git, automated testing, and modern development practices.
Location:
This position is open to candidates based anywhere in Latin America and is fully remote. Candidates located near our offices in Arequipa, Peru or San Salvador, El Salvador have the option to work in a hybrid in-office/remote arrangement. While office attendance is not mandatory, regular or occasional visits to the office are valued.
