MyWalkup Cuts Delivery Costs by Leveraging Claude Code
Ravn cut MyWalkup's delivery cost from $50,000 to $15,000 per month, and the delivery team from three engineers to one, after standardizing on Claude Code and Claude Design in January 2026, while feature throughput remained constant.
The Challenge
MyWalkup is a walkup-music app for youth baseball and softball: it generates an AI-voiced batter introduction, pairs it with an Apple Music track, and plays it in real time as the player walks to the plate. Ravn began building it from nothing in August 2025. The product needed native iOS, native Android, a JavaScript backend, cloud infrastructure, and product design, so it was staffed the way that work is normally staffed, with three full-time engineers, one per discipline. That ran at $50,000 per month. For a youth-sports product, that cost sets a hard ceiling on how much can be built before the economics stop working, and it was the constraint on the roadmap rather than any technical problem.
The Solution
In January 2026 Ravn made Claude Code standard, mandatory tooling on the engagement rather than optional assistance, and rebuilt the delivery model around them. The engineer who stayed had a native Android background and no production iOS or backend experience; with Claude Code he shipped Swift and SwiftUI features alongside Kotlin and Jetpack Compose ones, took over the JavaScript backend, and produced design work in Claude Design that had previously required separate design capacity. Ravn also built the deployment foundation a one-engineer team depends on: an isolated dev environment mirroring production across ECS, RDS, Redis, and ALB with environment-specific Terraform state, and GitHub Actions workflows reworked so every merge to master deploys automatically without manual intervention.
The Outcome
Delivery cost: $50,000/month → $15,000/month, a 70% reduction, sustained since January 2026. Delivery team: 3 full-time engineers (native Android, native iOS, backend JavaScript) → 1 engineer covering all three disciplines plus design Pull requests merged per month: Sustained delivery productivity even after reducing the number of contributing developers. Bugs reported: Bug and crash reports down Discipline coverage: one Android-background engineer shipping production iOS, backend, and design work. Redeployment: the two engineers who rolled off moved to other Ravn engagements. No reduction in Ravn headcount. Adoption: Claude Code used on all engineering and some design work on the engagement since January 2026
